Catch us the first week of July, because after that we're studio slugs!

Albert and Gage e-newsletter July 2008

Albert and Gage Our gig list is very short this month - mostly our usual Donn's nights, some private events and Christine singing for residents at nursing homes she used to visit regularly.  With gas at $4 a gallon, it seems like a great time to stay in our south Austin neighborhood and spend time in our beautiful new studio.  We are getting to work on the new A&G CD featuring the songs of Tom Peterson and managing the business of releasing and promoting Abi and Christine's new CDs.

MoonHouse Studio:  Chris continues juggling studio days with Rio King, Tony Airoldi, Lissa Hattersley, Steve Brooks, Bill Small and our own new recordings.  The new space definitely sees more action than the home studio did.  The legendary pianist Earl Poole Ball will be tickling the Bechstein ivories next week on Rio's record. www.moonhousestudio.com

MoonHouse Records: Abi Tapia's new CD was the #3 "Most Added" CD to the Americana radio chart.  The response has been great and she's just getting started.  A new MoonHouse Records agreement with Burnside Distribution will put Abi's CD and Christine's entire "Texafrance" series in more stores nationally.  The digital distribution process is complete, so they should start showing up at iTunes and elsewhere on the web very soon.  Meanwhile, and most importantly, they are available at www.moonhouserecords.com

"Paris, Texafrance" and "The Beauty in the Ruin" are getting airplay - check out the radio page on the MoonHouse Records website, and call your local station with a request!

a note from Christine...

Wow.  Does anyone else think that time is really flying by?  It was one year ago yesterday that the purchase of the new studio was complete and work began on the transformation.  Lately a year feels like a moment and a decade feels like a week.  Life is accelerated - I can't contain all the ideas I have and I cram thirty days of living into every thirty minutes.  The good news is I feel inspired and opportunities seem to be knocking.
We won't be putting in long hours on the road or on stage in July, so I'll be catching up in the office where there is always plenty to do.  Thank you to Cat and Leslie, who help keep it all rolling.  I'm learning the fine art of delegation and teamwork.
Which will give me more time and energy to pour into the songs of Tom Peterson.  We have become pen pals, writing letters between Texas and South Dakota as we develop this music.  What a gift his songs are and Chris and I are grateful that Tom is entrusting us with his babies.
Off to mow the lawn and play a gig.
              Christine

PS Happy Independence Day.  Oops.  Interesting.  I actually accidentally wrote "Interdependence" Day.  Maybe that's more appropriate in this global world we live in.  :-)

Swan Songs

Swan Songs fulfills musical wishes by arranging private concerts for individuals facing the end of life, with a Texas artist or style of music that they have requested.

Swan Songs has brought music as diverse as Scottish folk songs, Elvis songs, Christmas music in January, bagpipes, classical bassoon, gospel, country and Texas blues/rock to central Texans at the end of life.  If you would like to support this work, you can make a contribution here.  It is greatly appreciated.

Quote of the Month

"
Don't waste yourself in rejection, nor bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

and a blurb from Chris...

It's been a year since our mean old fat cat Angel was mauled to her demise by 3 neighbor dogs in the middle of the night.  Yes, she was mean, old and fat, but we loved her all the same.  We had a backyard service with the kids and friends that included a perfect finish of whirling,  spitting fireworks.  Angel would have been proud.
The very day she left us, Pinto showed up at the new studio which had just started it's demolition phase.  He was young, skinny, and seemed to need a home.  After a couple of weeks of sleeping on top of the refrigerator at the studio, we brought him home and he's been our pride and joy ever since.  I knew he was my cat when he laid down with me on the very first day in an empty room and wrapped himself around my head like a pair of headphones.
Pinto likes to be in the action.  If we're cooking we have to pull a tall stool into the kitchen so he can keep an eye on everything.  Here he comes now, time for food!  See you at the gig.
     Chris
