News from the musical world of Christine Albert and Chris Gage
April 2013

Hey and howdy, friends and neighbors, salutations from the MoonHouse in beautiful Austin, Texas, where the oak trees are spitting and shedding and dumping their pollen worms all over both of our cars.  Today is rainy for a change, and the garden is happy.  We're not so happy...our young kitty Yoda disappeared Sunday night and hasn't been seen since.  The sweetest cat, long white hair and with a grey face and tail.  If you're in south Austin, keep an eye out for him.

We've got a little tour on the east coast this month, hitting Herndon, VA and Fort Lauderdale, Fl.  Chris will miss one Monday Night at Donn's Depot and Christine will miss two Mystery Monday at El Mercados.  Dang it.

On Thursday, April 18th we will take part in Grammys on the Hill Advocacy Day, where hundreds of music professionals from across the country will visit with legislators to advance pro-music policies that improve the environment for music and its makers.  Always an interesting and inspiring day!

Sunday, April 14 from 2-5 PM EST tune in to Michael Stock's "Folk and Acoustic Music" show on WLRN in Miami or check out their website to stream it online.  Christine will be Michael's guest for a brief interview.  Thanks, Michael!

Chris' photos this month are all spontaneous shots of people and animals being spontaneous.

A note from Christine:
I just read Chris's note.  As I write this our cat Chippy is sprawled out on the desk with her paw touching me at all times.  She has quite literally not left our side since Yoda disappeared three days ago.  We are all so sad, but I'm not sure if she is trying to comfort us and let us know we are loved, or if inside she's saying "Yay!  I get them back. I am the center of their feline universe again!"  Either way, she is a sweetheart.
Since our last newsletter I have been to Philadelphia, LA, Nashville and all around Texas.  This next week I'll be in LA, Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, DC and Florida within a week's time.  I am becoming a master packer, although I still can't pack light.  I just do laundry and put it all back in the suitcase again.  The vitamins and toiletries pretty much stay in their "to go" mode.  Lots of living out of ziplock bags these days.
Much of the recent travel has to do with my volunteer work with The Recording Academy - traveling to the chapters or the office in LA for meetings.  But this month Chris and I will play a couple of new venues - in Virginia and Florida - so we'll rack up the frequent flyer miles together.  I love to play to new audiences so please spread the word if you know someone in the DC area or south Florida.  We also get to visit with my family in Florida - another musician perk.
Okay, I'm getting tired just talking about all of this.  Time for a pre-gig rest.
     Love, Christine

  And a blurb from Chris:
Because Christine and I travel together so often we can't really have a dog at home, although we love dogs.  We decided to provide a home for cats, though, and have had several pass through our home.
When we bought our house in 1999 we inherited a pregnant black cat that we started calling Munchkin.  When I also inherited a big mean cat from my first marriage named Angel, Munchie decided to move on.  Angel lumbered around the house giving us the evil eye.  Time and patience wore her down a little, and we eventually were able to co-exist in a loving way.  She was unfortunately attacked in our driveway by a pack of dogs and was gone by morning.
We've taken in a few strays over the years, Pinto became the studio cat and lived in the house for awhile...until we adopted little Chippy, who had been abandoned down the street.  Pinto did NOT want a kitten, and slowly moved down the block to a cat friendly house with an open garage.  He would actually lift his head when I called him and give me a look that said "whatever, dude, call all you want, I'm not coming home".  Shadow moved in for awhile off the street, but ended up getting run over while we were out of town.  Boots wanted to live with us, but he had Feline AIDS and we didn't want Chippy exposed.
This brings me to Yoda....poor little guy was playing outside Sunday but didn't show up at bedtime and we haven't seen him since.  Maybe he's okay and he'll come home sometime.  I hope.
     See you at the gig!
     Chris
