We had quite a week at the 56th GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles.  Christine spent a lot of time at rehearsals and meetings, in make up chairs and on red carpets, so Mr. Gage had a little time to explore the various Bloody Mary offerings in downtown LA.  The winner....the Fireworks Mary with a jumbo shrimp at Rockn' Fish.  You can stream the afternoon Pre-telecast for the next couple of weeks, featuring opening remarks by Christine Albert, the Chair of the National Board of Trustees of the Recording Academy.  Check it out!! http://www.grammy.com/videos/56th-grammy-awards-pre-telecast-ceremony Christine's speech begins after the opening song by The Larry Batiste Orchestra with special guests, Summer Horns.

Mr. Gage has strung all his short videos and stills from GRAMMY week into a YouTube video that is uploading as we speak.  If the link doesn't work check again in a little while. Behind the scenes clips of Paul McCartney, Bonnie Raitt and more.    Watch it here .

As always, thank you for the support...

A note from Christine:
What a month January was.  Our GRAMMY week was incredible.
I filled every minute - stretched, grew, embraced new experiences, learned to operate in total sleep deprivation, overcame nerves, celebrated music, connected with friends from all over the country, shared once in a lifetime experiences with those near and dear to me, wore high heels and false eyelashes, figured out how to survive on the red carpet, met celebrities and heroes, cried over beautiful performances, snapped at Chris when it was all too much, loved Chris for being my rock, presented deeply meaningful awards, represented my fellow Trustees and felt the gratification of hard work culminating in a week of events that inspired me to dive back in and start it all again.
Now we get to work on the committees, processes, membership initiatives and meetings where the work of The Recording Academy happens behind the scenes.  The GRAMMY Awards are the icing on the cake.  I'm already in the kitchen with my fellow elected leaders and our amazing staff, baking another cake.
Thanks for all the support.  It means the world to me.
And oh, yes, I'm doing some recording this month.  Actually making music!!
     Love, Christine

  And a blurb from Chris:
So following her around on the red carpets at the GRAMMY functions is quite a trip.  You wouldn't believe how loud and insistent the photographers are, but that's how they get their shot.  What's nice is...the lighting is perfect and it's okay to take all the photos you want!  And I didn't have to carry her purse the whole time.
When we got back to Austin it was (and still is) crunch time.  Every time we take a weekend off we have to make up for it by doubling up the next week.  Since Wednesday I've played at Donn's Depot twice, the Four Seasons lobby bar, Riverbend Church, Steve Fromholz's memorial service down on 6th Street and recorded 10 different musicians for an album of new songs by award winning songwriter Bob Cheevers.  I'd rather be busy, so I'm not complaining in the slightest.
We've got a yard guy who takes care of our properties when we don't have time.  He called and said he was willing to bag up the leaves at the studio.  The corner lot is fenced and all the leaves from the neighbors end up there somehow.  By the time he was finished there were 62 big brown yard bags to drag to the curb.  62!  But...the place looks nice.  Next in our world will be the tumbling down of all the little green wormy seed things that fall out of our big oak trees over the house.  That's how we know spring is coming.
     See you at the gig!
     Chris

Our son Troupe (L) and his bandmates Nick, Jake and Joey from SPEAK enjoy the Beatles taping.
