January, 2011

Greetings from the MoonHouse in lovely south Austin, Texas

Happy New Year to all our friends, fans, family, colleagues and neighbors!  January finds us hunkered down at our computers, doing accounting and business catch up after a busy holiday month.  Song ideas have been teasing us as well, so perhaps we'll find time to listen to what they have to say.  As always, we were honored to perform at The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar in Austin.  In case you've never made it, here's a link to a video that features our version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and offers a glimpse of the festivities.  Maybe next year!  Visit our website to learn more, see more videos, listen to song samples and take the most recent photo tours

MoonHouse Records artists include Albert and Gage, Christine Albert, Michael Austin, Red Willow Band and Abi Tapia.  Visit the MoonHouse Records website to learn more and for song samples and easy purchase options for CDs, digital album downloads and t-shirts.

The "Texafrance 3-Pack" is available for just $37 and Dakota Lullaby CD/T-shirt package for $25.

MoonHouse Studio   Casey Yeager's CD "Strong and Sturdy" is being released soon, we'll let you know how to pick up a copy.  Sarah Smith is gearing up to finish her debut release, the Amarillo cowboys Loagan and Lane are fixin' to turn their EP into a full blown CD project, the new Baldwin piano is in fine form, and Chris is about to dismantle the electronic Wurlitzer to replace a broken reed.  moonhousestudio.com

The TCA provides grants to arts presenters, schools, libraries, theaters and other non-profits throughout Texas to help with the cost of bringing in artists from the roster.

A reminder that Christine Albert's French Show has been approved for inclusion on the new Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) Texas Touring Roster for the Sept 2010 - August 2012 season.  So, if you know of a school, non-profit arts organization (grants are not available for fundraising events), etc that would like to host Ms. Albert's French Show, please keep this in mind.  The deadline for Arts Respond Performance Support Grants is January 15, 2011 for performances April 1, 2011-August 31, 2011. (Insider tip - you can also apply for funding for an A&G show through Christine's account, since Christine is the Albert in Albert and Gage!)

Christine and Professor Jacki Thomas of Texas A&M - Kingsville are developing listening comprehension exercises as a companion to the Texafrance music - perfect for the classroom or for individuals learning French on their own.  More soon about "Texafrance - Ecoutez!"

Check out Christine's blog - "As Grows the Garden"
an experiment in making a commitment to something for no other reason than to satisfy a creative longing to write and to dig in the dirt.

(I actually posted something in December!! - CA)

A note from Christine:
Wow!  Chris IS ambitious!  No kidding though, we really have talked about all those things.  The one concept I can't relate to is boredom because I always have a wealth of ideas swimming around my psyche.  Chris challenged me to add to the list without duplicating so I'll let my intuition fly and then compare and see where we're redundant.  Of course, I did read his list already and have a good idea of what he said, but there are some areas that I don't think he covered.
Tea drinking, meditating, bath taking, breathing, yoga, cat petting, petting, walking, reading, reading, more reading, drop D tuning, French speaking, praying, diaper changing, journaling, phone chatting, weeding, wedding attending, forgiving, booking, candle lighting, embracing, lightening up, rolfing, raking, laughing, cleaning, crying, planting, sowing, reaping, swimming, sleeping and dreaming.
Okay, we doubled up on a few, but reinforcement is a good thing.
Wishing you an inspired 2011; onward, to lightly trip across even a fraction of these yearnings.  That's enough...I'll take what comes.
     Love, Christine

  And a blurb from Chris:
Enter the new year.  We're still here and gearing up to make as much music and magic in 2011 as we possibly can.
We've had countless strategy sessions in the truck driving across this great country and have some brilliant ideas for projects, albums, videos, tv and film composing, French tours, symphony gigs, songwriting, book writing, web design, collaborations, self improvement, dieting, healthy cooking, home remodel, grandchildren, bamboo removal, driveway improvement, clutter removal, photography, music production, record promotion, marketing, travelling, mentoring, soul stirring, giving, receiving, helping, honoring, nurturing, gardening, emailing, communicating, singing, dancing, exercising, baseball catching, star gazing, moon watching, fire building, tree trimming, onion harvesting, ranch visiting, dinner partying, career building, money saving, parent visiting, kid visiting, office cleaning, book reading, bread making, antique shopping, recording, mixing, song learning, concert going, coffee and tea drinking, doctor avoiding, bike riding, Wi Fitting, herb watering, porch sitting and a few other activities.
     Wish us luck.
See you at the gig (I hope).
