Greetings from the MoonHouse in lovely south
Austin, Texas

|

Our digital single "Wings of
War" was very well received and we
appreciate all the emails and shared
stories. Thanks to all the radio shows
that featured it during their Memorial Day
programming.

Albert and Gage
continues to carve
out a space amidst the
studio, Jerry Jeff gigs, Swan Songs, French music, Grammy board work, family demands, etc.
This summer we are hanging around Texas until our October European tour. Christine is playing a little more sans Chris, so watch for
opportunities to hear her with a slightly different focus and vibe. The
muse is waking up and we're working on songs for the next album - no guarantees
when that will appear! |

We are very proud that
Christine Albert's French Show has been approved
for inclusion on the new
Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) Texas Touring Roster
for the Sept 2010 - August 2012 season. The TCA
provides grants to arts presenters, schools, libraries,
theaters and other non-profits throughout Texas to help
with the cost of bringing in artists from the roster.
So, if you know of a
school, non-profit, etc that would like to host Ms.
Albert's French Show, please keep this in mind.
The deadline for
Arts Respond Performance Support Grants performances
occurring Sept. 1 - Dec. 14 is August 1. |

Red Willow Band
(featuring Chris Gage) played
The Knuckle in Sturgis, South Dakota
June 26th and the turn out was fantastic. 1,000 Red Willow Band fans from
28 different states came and danced under the full moon in the beautiful Black
Hills of South Dakota. The boys already have several offers for next year,
so it looks like the magic will keep on happening. For those who don't
know, RWB was a band that Chris was in from 1974-1982. Based in South
Dakota they traveled the country but were especially loved throughout the
Midwest.

Jerry
Jeff Walker took us to Belize in January for a week
of sun and music as part of his Camp Belize concert
series. Chris took some beautiful video on the
trip and produced a music video, set to "Down in Belize"
from his new Moon Child album, that we gave to Jerry
Jeff and Susan on JJ's birthday this year. They've
posted it on their website to let people see what the
week is like. Here's your chance to see it on
YouTube.

MoonHouse Records artist and traveling songbird Abi Tapia makes her home
in New England now, so those of you in that area really need to check her out.
She has a great website - www.abitapia.com
- where you can find her tour dates. She also has a healthy dose of wanderlust,
so she regularly shows up in other areas of the country and has a charming
blog about her travels.
MoonHouse Studio
is in full swing this summer with Bob Livingston, Casey
Yeager, Cowboy Johnson and Sarah Smith. Chris has
plans to start creating content to pitch to TV shows for
background music. He'd like to write music for the
Food Network...the best of both his worlds.

Check out Christine's
blog -
"As Grows the Garden"
an experiment in making a commitment to
something for no other reason than to satisfy a creative
longing to write and to dig in the dirt. |
|
A note
from Christine:
I finally had a few days to catch my breath this
past weekend while Chris was traveling to a far away corner of the
continent for a Jerry Jeff gig. It feels like the first time
in forever that I have had three consecutive days with no one
expecting me or needing me. I cleaned up my diet, cleaned out
my closets, did some housecleaning in my cluttered mind and enjoyed
the rain and my cat. When I slow down and get quiet it shows
me how congested my life usually is, trying to fit so many things in
on so many fronts.
I have two friends in hospice care right now and sang
at the memorial for another friend on Friday. Life is
fleeting; I really don't want to miss mine by running through it on
overdrive. My gardening blog is a step in the right direction,
although with the rain and the travel I have not been as consistent
as I had planned.
As a matter of fact, the garden is calling me now.
And maybe a cup of tea before I go out there. Look at me being
slow and savoring the moments!
Love to all,
Christine
PS Now that's a first. Chris has more to say than I do!
He's usually the reticent lad while I am the jabber gal. Role
reversal after my weekend of solitude, I guess. |
|
And
a blurb from Chris:
Happy Independence Day. I had an
amazing couple of weeks recently with a lot of travelling.
It's good to be home, where the temps are heating up and the air
conditioner is fixed.
I enjoyed making music with my old bandmates from the
Red Willow Band.
We really did have a special chemistry that is still there 30 odd
years later. Being back in the Black Hills is always a treat.
I checked in on my mom is Pierre, South Dakota.
She stays in her corner in a comfy recliner and is most happy to
receive visitors for a short while at a time. She looks great,
but can't see well enough to admit that that's true!
I then had a heavy travel schedule to get to
StanFest in Canso, Nova Scotia
to meet up with Jerry Jeff. A highlight was an intimate
afternoon concert where he pulled out a bunch of wonderful songs
that he doesn't usually do in concert. Morning Song for Sally,
Little Bird and Mr. Bojangles are among my favorite songs of all
time.
The finishing touches happened both weekends on small
airplanes. Last week the pilot flew us right past the faces of
Mt. Rushmore, and then on the 4th of July our plane landed at
Newark, having flown right past the Statue of Liberty. And...I
was on the right side of the plane both times. Better than
fireworks.
See you at the gig.
