News from the musical world of Christine Albert and Chris Gage
NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2013

Hey and howdy, friends and neighbors, salutations from the MoonHouse in beautiful Austin, Texas where we've had our first freeze and it's already back up to 80 degrees.

We're going to try and get this schedule out for the whole holiday season.  We've got a few really cool Christmas shows scheduled and we hope you can make some of them.  We'll be at Central Market Dec. 21 to celebrate the solstice and the release of "Chris Gage - Ornaments"....we're playing early in the day on Christmas Eve, the 24th, at the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar.  We're honored to be asked back once again.

CG: My photo essay this month is called "Windows".  I'm fascinated, as I think a lot of photographers are, with the way a picture can focus on the window itself, what's outside the window, or what's inside the window - maybe a still life or someone looking out.  I hope you enjoy these.  Yet to come....doors and mirrors!

As always, thank you for the support,
Chris and Christine

We lost a good one last month....Merry Ellen Featherstone, our biggest fan and dear friend, passed away October 6, 2013...hours before we all gathered to play a benefit for her in Houston, Texas.  Farewell sweet Merry Ellen.  Scope out the best gigs for us!!

The instrumental Christmas CD by Chris Gage is now available, just in time for Christmas.  Warm, acoustic versions of your favorite carols performed on a variety of instruments with a sentimental vibe.

There are four guest appearances...Kenny Putnam's fiddle on "God Rest Ye", David Carroll's bass on "Tannenbaum", Kym Warner's mandolin and bouzouki on "O Holy Night" and Christine Albert's beautiful rendition of "Silent Night" in French as the only vocal.

More info and song samples can be found HERE.  To special order copies that can be autographed (or not) send a $16.50 check or money order to MoonHouse Records, P.O. Box 41021, Austin, TX 78704.  Email us with questions about ordering or to use a credit card.  EMAIL

The amazing view from Lee and Dee's bedroom in Bar Harbor, Maine.

A note from Christine:
A rare day off in the middle of an intense couple of weeks of meetings and events - hopping back and forth between LA and Vegas.  My voice gets worn out from so much talking, so I am taking a "silent day" - oh, except for one phone meeting!  But Beverly Hills is quite relaxing on a Sunday afternoon.  I strolled through the Rodeo Drive shopping district after a California Omelet at The Farm.   It is window shopping to the max because I can't even afford a pair of socks at these places, so I don't go in.  Drinking in the beauty of Beverly Gardens Park is much more therapeutic for me than shopping anyway.
This will be a busy holiday season, of course, as it is for everyone.  I will be home Thanksgiving weekend and then back to LA in early December so I may end up doing my Christmas shopping in airports.  It's been known to happen.  I found a great suitcase set for my daughter-in-law at an airport one year.
I'm so proud of Chris.  His new CD "Ornaments" is gorgeous.  I've always been his biggest fan, obviously, but his musicianship is in all its glory here.  The warmth of the instruments, the unexpected arrangements, the depth of feeling...truly beautiful.  I'm honored that I got to be one of just a handful of special guests.
Enjoy the holiday season; may the joy Chris felt in recording "Ornaments" fill your home with that same spirit!

     Love, Christine

  And a blurb from Chris:
It's always fun to have a theme for my photo essays...it forces me to blast through my many photo folders looking for certain types of pics, in this case windows.  I had different categories in mind, looking out, looking in, looking at...I chose looking out this time, maybe I'll expand in the future.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.  I will be hosting dinner here at the house.  I will make homemade chicken stock in advance, I will brine a turkey and an extra breast in salt, sugar, veggies and vegetable broth.  I will roast said turkey out on the Weber gas grill in a disposable roasting pan.  This frees up the oven for other things, and the whole neighborhood will smell like MY turkey.  I will delegate sides, breads, pies and such to various talented family members.  There will be multiples....usually cranberries, stuffing and sweet potatoes show up in a couple different forms.  Everyone has to have their childhood favorite, right?  I'll be chronicling the biscotti making on my foodie blog
Then, it'll happen fast.  Christmas time.  I'll string some lights, we'll make a quadruple triple batch of biscotti to give away, and I'll enjoy finding clever items to surprise my 2 1/2 year old grandson with.  What a joy to see things through his eyes.  He showed up at our door on Halloween dressed as a dragon with a hearty "trick or treat!".  So cool.
     Blessings to you and yours.

     See you at the gig!
     Chris
