News from the musical world of Christine Albert and Chris Gage
OCTOBER 2014

Hey and howdy, friends and neighbors, salutations from the MoonHouse in beautiful Austin, Texas where the acorns have fallen and every other day is a fairly decent temperature.

We've been busy around town, busy travelling, Christine is guiding Swan Songs and The Recording Academy, Chris has 3 weekly gigs to play around the studio schedule, Christine's been in Los Angeles, Chris has been in Houston, MoonHouse Studio has a new computer system, Chris has an expedited passport coming so he can go on the GRAMMY cruise in November, Christine lives on the telephone and Chris roasted 20 heads of garlic with olive oil and rosemary for a pot luck supper.  Too much info?

Christine's non-profit, Swan Songs, marks another year of fulfilling musical last wishes with the 2014 Swan Songs Serenade featuring the legendary Ray Benson with hot jazz-grass ensemble MilkDrive.  The fundraiser takes place October 29 at Shoal Crossing Event Center in Austin and tickets are on sale now.  Sponsorships are also available and Swan Songs welcomes any donations to the silent auction.  Live and silent auction items include tickets to the 57th GRAMMY Awards, a beautiful Collings guitar, SXSW wristbands, a night at Four Seasons and more!!  For more information, please visit the event page at the Swan Songs website.

Thank you to all the radio stations playing "Everything's Beautiful Now" and to the journalists who are sharing the story of its creation.

The CD is easy to buy online! Click here.

We're still celebrating the release of Christine's new CD "Everything's Beautiful Now." We produced it together and Chris plays all over the thing, but it is a very personal project for Christine.  The album explores the richness of loss and John Conquest with 3rd Coast Magazine said "Albert...is a remarkable songwriter, addressing what she calls 'a rite of passage,' while steering well clear of maudlin sentiment."

Peter Blackstock with The Austin American-Statesman wrote an in depth piece about Christine after the two met for conversation and guacamole.  Read it here

Country Line Magazine also has an article about Christine in the October issue, written by Sandra Greaney.  Look for one around Austin or read it online!

This month Chris lets you into the kitchen on homemade pasta night.  We're truly blessed to have all our kids in the neighborhood and they ALL love to cook, as you can see.

As always, thank you for the support...
Chris and Christine

A note from Christine...
Love these pictures of our clan making homemade pasta.  That was one evening when they all decided it was time for a family dinner.  After a busy week on the road and in the studio, our response was "we can supply the house but don't have time to shop or cook!"  Next thing we knew there was pasta hanging over racks all over the house.  There is no shortage of chefs in this family!
It's always busy around here, but the convergence of a new CD, a major fundraiser, a complete studio overhaul and the busiest season for Academy meetings is making for unparalleled craziness.  Still, we're healthy and relatively sane so I guess the old saying - and a line in a song I wrote - "God never gives you more than you can handle" - is true.
The Swan Songs event on October 29 is going to be truly special.  If you are in the Austin area, please consider attending.  Ray Benson and MilkDrive? Supporting a worthy cause?  The chance to win 57th Annual GRAMMY Award tickets?  What's not to love?!
Speaking of which, it's time to get to work on the Swan Songs newsletter now.
      Love,
          Christine

  And a blurb from Chris...
Austin, Texas is a wonderful place to live, especially in October when the heat slowly leaves and a hint of cool air arrives at the screen door and you can take your coffee on the porch...outside...and you can stand it!  I had a small birthday cookout this year and my guests very bravely and loyally sat by my grill with temps over 105.  Growing up in South Dakota my birthdays were usually hot as well, but by Halloween we could have been trick or treating in the snow with parkas over our costumes.  Not so in Austin.
Life is good.  The studio has been refitted with a Mac Pro and Pro Tools HDX.  My plan is to dive into a lot of our sessions and start reworking the tracks to create some music that could be used in TV or film.  One of the part time projects I've had for years is to compose and record music for the birthday cards (American Greetings) that start playing music when you open the card.  I get 16 seconds to work with.  The last one featured me as a hamster that pops out of a birthday cupcake.  What? Quit show business?  Never.
Hug somebody close.  See you at the gig!
     Chris
